Staycation 2010 is predicted to be an even bigger phenomenon in 2010 than 2009, and we all stand to benefit.

2009 saw a trend for more of us Brits taking holidays at home. Whilst many people might be sceptical about this - it's official as VisitEngland have publicly confirmed that the holiday trips taken by Britons within England in the 3 peak summer months of 2009 was up by 22%.

This is underpinned by findings reported by Blue Chip Vacations, a SW self-catering specialist, which in the same period in 2009 saw booking rise by 60% and have reported an increase in demand of +66% for 2010 bookings.

The staycation trend was further supported by a survey undertaken by Blue Chips Vacations in Dec 2009, identifying that 56% of us intended to drop an overseas holiday in 2010 and 69% would choose a UK holiday or short break instead. Their respondents identified a range of influences for their decisions amongst which were poor exchange rates, environmental concerns and positive UK weather predictions.
